A journal editor who joked about killing vegans has stepped down after coming below fireplace for his feedback.
William Sitwell, who was Waitrose Meals journal editor till Wednesday, advised journalist Selene Nelson pen a sequence of articles about force-feeding meat to vegans, whom he accused of “hypocrisy”.
Ms Nelson had advised an everyday sequence on vegan cooking, that includes recipes, commentary and information.
In an emailed response to her pitch final week, the journal editor wrote: “Hello Selene. Thanks for this. How a couple of sequence on killing vegans, one after the other. Methods to lure them? interrogate them correctly? Expose their hypocrisy? Power-feed them meat? Make them eat steak and drink purple wine?”
In an announcement, Waitrose and Companions Meals Journal stated it believed that it was the “proper and correct transfer” for Mr Sitwell to step down as editor.
