TOKYO (AP) — Nissan Chief Efficiency Officer Jose Munoz, who took a depart of absence every week in the past, has resigned, the primary high-profile departure on the Japanese automaker publicly acknowledged as associated to the arrest of former Chairman Carlos Ghosn.
Munoz stated in a press release on LinkedIn Saturday he made the choice after critical considering as a result of the corporate was “concerned in issues which have and can proceed to divert its focus,” referring to Ghosn’s case.
Munoz is amongst a number of executives media speculated may succeed Ghosn, who led Nissan for twenty years.
Nissan confirmed the resignation, efficient instantly.
There have been different current departures from Nissan, however Nissan has denied they had been associated to Ghosn’s case.
Munoz, a Spaniard who oversaw Nissan’s international methods, labored for Nissan for 14 years.
“I really like the corporate, my proficient co-workers and Nissan’s industry-leading sellers,” he stated.
Ghosn, arrested Nov. 19, has been charged with breach of belief and falsifying monetary stories and stays detained in Tokyo. He rebutted every allegation and asserted his innocence in a Tokyo courtroom earlier this week, his first public look since his arrest.

In Japan, suspects are routinely held for months till their trials begin. No trial date has been set for Ghosn.
