“Fabulous Style: From Dior’s New Look to Now” explores over 70 years of style innovation.

Haute couture robes, glossy cocktail clothes and regal fits are just some of the gadgets on show at Fabulous Style: From Dior’s New Look to Now. Operating by way of March 3, 2019, on the Philadelphia Museum of Artwork, the exhibit is a can’t-miss for fashionistas.
Celebrating iconic French dressmaker Christian Dior, plus many others, Fabulous Style explores over seven a long time of innovation in a hyper-creative business. Among the many works on show: Dior’s 1947 velvet “Winged Victory” robe, Paco Rabanne’s 1966 plastic disc costume, a Chanel go well with from 1972, and Geoffrey Beene’s 1994 silver lamé “Mercury” costume.
The exhibit paperwork the novel adjustments in type and the methods designers efficiently pushed the boundaries. “With so many fantastic examples within the museum’s assortment, the works have been chosen to enrich each other and encourage guests to make connections between totally different eras, approaches and aesthetics,” says Kristina Haugland, the Le Vine affiliate curator of costume and textiles and supervising curator for the Examine Room.
Featured ball robes embody one type Oscar de la Renta, plus bridal robes from Vera Wang and Carolina Herrera, and Grace Kelly’s wedding ceremony headpiece, sneakers and bride’s guide.
